Confronting Noises #6: Burnt Sand Learning to Sing
‘Burnt Sand Learning to Sing’ album premier performance.
aNoise invites you to Confronting Noises #6: Burnt Sand Learning to Sing, the sixth edition of our performance series at PAS Berlin, featuring Chi Him Chik, Aquiles Hadjis, Aiii, Pelk Ensemble, Sophie‑T, and Naomi Xila‑Xulis.
This chapter is dedicated to the premier performance of Burnt Sand Learning to Sing by Chi Him Chik, Aquiles Hadjis, and Aiii. Burnt Sand Learning to Sing arises from an open, responsive exchange of sound and instinct between Venezuelan-born artist Aquiles Hadjis and Hong Kong media artist Chi Him Chik. Hadjis, known for sculptural approaches to improvisation and cross‑media dialogue, meets Chik’s transformative performances shaped by chaos, reflection, and emotion; their conversation expands through Aiii — a digital improvisation system developed by Chik — listening, responding, and learning as a third voice within the dialogue.
On December 8th, 2025, the evening unfolds through a multimedial performance by Naomi Xila‑Xulis and sets by Sophie‑T and Pelk Ensemble before the main act, where Chi Him Chik performs Burnt Sand Learning to Sing with aNoise at PAS Berlin, using hardware provided by Aquiles Hadjis and the Aiii system.
Since its beginning in late 2024, Confronting Noises has brought together artists working across improvisation, noise, and new forms of electronic expression; this sixth chapter continues that trajectory, inviting listeners into a night where evolving practices, new tools, and shared experiments meet in the room.
