Noise vs. Noise #3: Electronic Jam Session

A day of free improvisation: artists and audience were invited to bring their instruments and find a way of sharing their sounds, taking turns and playing side by side.

Babak Shahroozi was the first to accept the invitation and started the jam on trumpet; friends with other acoustic instruments, the didgeridoo among them, joined him. As the acoustic players turned their microphones off one by one, the jam became electroacoustic. OESTI on laptop, and Magic Mind and Neuronal Noise with two small synthesizers, brought analog synthesis, familiar beats and synthesizer motifs.

Joining a jam with nothing set beforehand is hard, and such sessions often end in harsh noise or in players who can no longer follow each other. This one did not: it was a success.
