Monchoce Tonero

Sylvain Monchocé and Andrea Tonero are an experimental music duo whose practice brings together acoustic instruments, prepared piano, electronics, and free improvisation. They met while studying at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons, where their shared interest in experimental music led to an ongoing artistic collaboration.

Drawing on backgrounds in classical performance, the duo explores new approaches to sound, improvisation, and collective interaction. Their work combines instruments including gayageum, taegŭm, contrabass flute, alto saxophone, prepared piano, and electronics, creating performances that balance structured composition with spontaneous musical dialogue.

Through an exploratory approach to timbre, texture, and listening, Monchocé and Tonero develop immersive sonic environments that blur the boundaries between contemporary composition, improvisation, and experimental performance.
