Leonie Roessler is a sound artist, composer, and performer based in The Hague, Netherlands. Her work combines field recordings, sound installations, and compositions for soloists and ensembles, often exploring themes of marginalization and cultural identity. A significant part of her output includes the Cultural Spaces project, creating sound portraits of cities worldwide, and experimental noise-based performances. Being a co-founder and co-manager with aNoise, she is actively involved in art radio through Studio LOOS and the On Air – On Site festival, which she co-founded. Leonie's works have been performed and broadcast globally, featured in venues like the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in India, and the Kiln Theatre in London. Her compositions have been released on international labels such as Syrphe, Musica Dispersa, and Noise à Noise, with her works archived in the British Library. Raised in Germany and trained in the U.S. and the Netherlands, Leonie holds advanced degrees in composition, blending classical techniques with a contemporary experimental approach.
