PELK Ensemble
Ambient and Experimental Duo
PELK Ensemble is a Berlin-based collaborative music project founded by Mahan Tabrizinia and Julia Herzog. Tabrizinia works with guitars, synthesizers, effects and electronic production, while Herzog plays recorder and keyboards. Together they develop a hybrid language that draws on ambient music, experimental jazz, electronic music, contemporary composition and minimalist soundscapes.
At the centre of their work is live interaction. PELK Ensemble treats performance as a shared process of listening, in which acoustic gestures, extended techniques, synthesizer textures, field-like atmospheres and electronic processing keep influencing one another. Their music often unfolds gradually, letting small events (a breath through the recorder, a prepared-guitar resonance, a shift in synthesis, a change in spatial treatment) become structural turning points.
The duo has performed in Berlin's independent experimental scene and beyond: at Confronting Noises #6 at PAS Berlin, at Future East Festival, live in Vienna (including Flucc / Flucc Wanne), and on Callshop Radio, among others in the June 2026 Sonic Spirits special with Namdar Majidi and Moreza Jamshidbeig. Their practice is not a fixed ensemble sound but a flexible space where two distinct musical histories meet, listen and transform.
