Bijan Moosavi

Multimedia Artist, Filmmaker, Performer · London, UK

Bijan Moosavi is an Iranian multimedia artist raised in Tehran and based in London. He makes films, installations, music and performances that examine the impact of neoliberalism from a Middle Eastern point of view. His work draws upon the aesthetics of neoliberalism — corporate advertising, science fiction, popular culture, and Islamic kitsch — to construct dystopian narratives set in speculative futures. His projects have included immersive installations, lecture-performances, and sci-fi commercial films, among them Disco Islam: Future Phantasmagoria (2022), GHT.2058: Asylo-جنّت (2023), and Future-Islam™: Musical Solutions (2017). He holds a BA in Visual Communication from Islamic Azad University, Tehran, and an MA in Audio Post Production from Leeds Beckett University. He was artist-in-residence at Delfina Foundation, London (2019) and The Art House, Wakefield (2017), and was shortlisted for a Sound Art Residency at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2011. He was twice a finalist for the Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize (2013 and 2018). His work has been shown at venues including V.O Curations London, AD/AD Project Space Hanover, The Nunnery Gallery London, Forecast Forum Berlin, Eastside Projects Birmingham, Southwark Park Galleries, and Mohsen Gallery Tehran.
