Negin Mozafari

Developer, Coordinator, Artist

Negin Mozafari is an Iranian composer, pianist, and music informatics student currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts with an artistic focus at the Karlsruhe University of Music (HfM). A recipient of the prestigious Hans Hachmann Scholarship 2024/25 from the Friends of HfM, she was selected for her innovative project "Vocal Resonance: The Body as an Instrument." This work explores the human body—particularly the vocal cords—as a passive instrument within interactive performance systems, stimulated externally by other voices or devices and processed in real-time through computer music techniques.

Previously based in Tehran, Negin studied film, composition, and piano, with early involvement in electronic music. Her scholarship project, praised by a jury including Dr. h.c. Hans Hachmann, Prof. Thomas Seedorf, and Prof. Christoph Seibert, reimagines the voice not as an active producer but as a vibrated, "played" entity, emphasizing performer-technology collaboration. The project will premiere as a live performance on July 4, 2025, at 7:30 pm during an institute event at HfM Karlsruhe. The 12-month, €300/month award highlights exceptional interdisciplinary fusion of music informatics and musicology.
