Berlin, September 2024 – Noise à Noise is proud to present its latest compilation album, Noise à Noise 24.1: Resistance 1. This collection brings together experimental electronic and contemporary artists from across the globe, each exploring the theme of resistance—not in a political or governmental sense, but as a deeply personal and human response to the injustices and challenges that threaten human dignity and freedom.
Resistance as a Human Imperative
Resistance does not always mean war or conflict; it can also manifest as patience, empathy, and the ability to peacefully tolerate and understand others. Sometimes, true resistance comes not through opposition or anger, but through the silent strength of listening, compassion, and endurance.
This compilation is dedicated not only to the people of Iran but also stands in solidarity with all communities across nations and cultures who face oppression and conflict, including the people of Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, and Kurdistan (especially those living in Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey). It reflects the collective struggles for dignity, freedom, and identity, acknowledging the shared human experience of resistance in the face of displacement and marginalization.
About the Album Concept
Building on the ideas of Edward Said and Frantz Fanon, this compilation redefines resistance as an individual and deeply human force. Said argued that resistance stems from personal experiences, moral convictions, and a fundamental desire to reclaim one’s identity and humanity. Fanon saw resistance not only as a political act but also as an internal, psychological process of reclaiming one’s dignity and agency.
Both thinkers viewed resistance as a means to push back against forces that seek to dehumanize and oppress, not through violence alone, but through the strength of standing one’s ground, maintaining one’s humanity, and ultimately transforming internalized oppression. Resistance, therefore, can take many forms—from outward defiance to the quiet, internal resolve to endure, empathize, and peacefully hold space for one’s identity in the face of hardship.
Noise à Noise 24.1: Resistance 1 (Disk 1/2)
Noise à Noise 24.1: Resistance 1 is the first part of a two‑disk release, featuring 24 tracks by artists from Iran, Germany, Ukraine, and beyond. The album was compiled and mastered by Soheil Soheili, with cover art by Sepersa.
The cover art, featuring the Greek letter Omega (Ω), symbolizes the culmination of resistance as a universal and human attribute. In many cultures, Omega represents the “end” or the ultimate limit, but within the context of this album, it is used to signify the point where human beings rise in response to oppression, embodying the power of resistance in its many forms—whether through defiance or quiet resilience.
Following a special performance by a selection of featured artists in Berlin on December 30th, 2024, Noise à Noise 24.1: Resistance 1 was released on December 31st, 2024 (officially dated January 1, 2025).
