Spectro Duo
Composer and improviser duo · Oslo, Norway
Members Martyna Kosecka, Idin Samimi Mofakham
SpectroDuo started working in 2013 in the field of electroacoustic experimental art. The ensemble consists of two composer-improvisers, Martyna Kosecka and Idin Samimi Mofakham, who draw on their classical musical training to create avant-garde and experimental sound projects, combining sonic experience from the Orient and Occident. Their music focuses in particular on drone, noise, beating phenomena, glitch, field recording transformation, microtonality, and oriental modalities. Alongside electronics, they use piano, saxophone, and Iranian and Polish traditional instruments. Their self-made visuals, some of them controlled live, are based on glitch art, distortion, and binary operations.
SpectroDuo has performed at various experimental music and media festivals, including Extreme Chill Festival Reykjavik (Iceland), Ars Electronica Linz (Austria), AudioArt Festival Kraków (Poland), Musicacoustica Beijing (China), Tehran Contemporary Music Festival, and TADAEX (Iran), as well as in the Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, Armenia, and many other places.
