Nesa Azadikhah

Nesa Azadikhah (b. 1984, Tehran) is an Iranian DJ, composer, music producer and sound artist currently based in Paris. She began her musical education at the age of six studying traditional Iranian percussion instruments including the tonbak and daf, and later became involved in electronic music and DJ culture in Tehran’s underground scene. Azadikhah is the founder and artistic director of Deep House Tehran, an online platform established in 2014 dedicated to documenting and supporting Iranian electronic music culture through podcasts, articles and curated releases. Alongside her DJ and production work, she has collaborated with musicians, filmmakers and visual artists, and has contributed to music releases including projects with Iranian rapper Bahram Nouraei. In recent years she has expanded her activities internationally, performing across Europe and developing projects that connect experimental electronic music with elements of Persian musical traditions. In 2023 she co-founded Apranik Records with the artist AIDA, releasing compilations and productions by Iranian women electronic musicians. In 2024 she was included in the BBC's 100 Women list for her contribution to electronic music culture and artistic initiatives connected to the Iranian music community.
