Ali Balighi – Ghazale Vay
Berlin, Germany – August 1, 2025 – aNoise announces the release of “Ghazale Vay,” the new album from Iranian composer Ali Balighi.
“Ghazale Vay” presents five distinct sonic explorations that highlight Balighi’s unique compositional voice. Inspired by the depths of aquatic environments, the vibrant traditions of Persia, the boundless realm of childhood play, and ancient mythological narratives, the album offers a diverse listening experience. One piece delves into the hidden soundscape of underwater creatures through hydrophone recordings and innovative grand piano preparations. Another vibrant work draws from the celebratory music of Nowruz, traditionally played with the Saz and Dohol. The album also features an atmospheric fixed media piece focused on creating a new musical environment, a composition exploring the concept of play from a child’s perspective using primarily internal piano sounds, and the titular piece, “Ghazale Vay,” inspired by the Persian god of wind, Izad-e-Vay, for instruments and fixed media. Featured performers include Hamed Shadad, Kyle Buentello, Ting Ting Goh, Austin Perry, Matt Fowler, and Michael Mixtacki, under the direction of Brad Cawyer.
